The Thurman Cafe

Very interesting place with huge hamburgers and interesting appetizer choices. The cafe is smaller than what I imagined and very busy. We waited 30 minutes at 8:00 in the evening. The atmosphere is interesting and has the unusual tradition of writing on money and hanging it on the wall... its noisy but well worth the wait... A must see in Columbus...

Portion is big but sides are limited. Hope they could have some fresh vegetables.

After months of being told I have to get The Thurminator I finally got the job done. $22 and well worth it, I’d say. Come hungry and leave full. I’ve been back twice and each time is better than the last. Interesting place to eat at in Delaware. The decor is unlike that of any other restaurant. Very cool!

Classic neighborhood bar, complete with neon beer signs and sports memorabilia plastering the walls, serving hand formed burgers and thick cut fries alongside a full pub menu. The tap list is a small but well curated selection of local and regional craft beers, but there is a diverse bottle selection and full bar. A must-stop for any burger and beer lovers in Columbus.

Amazing food and great company one of the best burgers I have had ! The wait was worth it for the unique dive bar atmosphere. The service was amazing and once we were at our table it didn't seem cramped. I hope I get the opportunity to go someday again. Wonderful place wonderful people cold beer and amazing burgers what could be wrong with that.

Only got to do carryout due to recent events. Delicious burgers, very hefty. Since it was my first visit even as carryout the staff helped me to what was popular.

If you're looking for an amazing burger, Thurman's is one of those places. Everything is cooked well and tasty. Definitely a must stop if you happen to be visiting Columbus. Beer list is terrible and needs work; the standard mass produced beers is what you'll find. Staff is friendly and are attentive even with as busy as they can be.

Fun spot with good but not great burgers. Maybe they were over hyped and that’s the reason I didn’t think they lived up to the hype. The fries were excellent and the staff was friendly and helpful.

This place has been in business, operated by the same family, since 1942! The walls are totally papered with dollar bills signed and taped up by patrons. What good is a restaurant if their only claim to fame is money on the walls, right? The service is attentive but not bothersome. The food, American casual fare all dressed up for huge appetites seeking the familiar with a twist.

Huge burgers, cooked perfectly! They offered great carry out service during Covid. The onion straws were delicious!

Wonderful staff. Best burger buns! Quick wait times. Try out the pinball machine. Really good housemade ranch. Delicious seasoned patty. You won't leave hungry!! Served with kettle chips or fries

Always a pleasure at Thurman's! The staff are prompt and courteous. My only problem today was other patrons asking me to move my seat. Cocky gym rats.Other than that, my A1 burger was on point.

Was in town for a twenty one pilots concert at the Newport venue and tried this restaurant, as it's a highly reviewed local favorite. Food was delicious!! Had to try the burger and fries. If I'm ever back in Columbus, I'll stop back thru.

The Thurman Cafe is not what I would call a cafe. I would call it a small bar. A small bar with friendly staff and great burgers. Alone with the burgers, I would recommend the onion rings. They also have other items on the menu but sadly they never reach beyond the level of bar food. But if you are in the mood for a better than average burger you will enjoy yourself here.

Make time to visit this place. It just seemed like a bar to me until I was presented a massive 3/4lb burger they make exactly to your liking. Not just the portion but juicing with flavor. I wish words could fathom how great this burger was. I would recommend for anyone and everyone. This will be a regular visit for me every time I am in town.

First time here. I ordered the western burger with onion rings instead of fries. Both the burger and rings were great. I only have one problem, that was the portion of the rings. Not gonna ding em on that.

Absolutely phenomenal. Fantastic food, great music, very cozy atmosphere. Massive burgers, what else would you want in a cafe!? Great service? Well they have that too! If you don't walk out feeling like you're about to burst you haven't really been to Thurman cafe! Highly recommend trying it! Will definitely be visiting numerous times.

Great service, awesome atmosphere, lots of locals come in and know each other and the staff well, good menu with a little something for most everyone, and competitive prices. Nice to watch a game and spend time with friends and family. It's been a while since I have been back here, but it was a quick reminder of why they've won so many awards for their burgers!

Very small place. Very busy. Large portions. Had the Rad Shroom burger. Very tasty. Didn't have enough horseradish sauce for my taste. Excellent fries. Good service. Music selection was all over the place, from country to new age.

The food and environment were amazing! The burgers were huge and delicious. We also enjoyed the fried banana peppers. There was a 45minute wait due to us having 8 people in our party but while we waited for our table, we got drinks from the bar and ordered appetizers which came out quickly (they had small tall tables and benches in the waiting room to use for drinks and food)

Best Burgers in Columbus hands down. I have had Son of Thurman's and its just not the same. Got to see the Godfather to have the full experience.

I Loved it, MOSTLY. Our server who took our order was pretty friendly. The older guy not so much. Only seemed to care about regulars, was there to see if my wife and I would make it a weekly spot. PROBABLY NOT. Once in a while maybe.

I might be a bit biased with this place, but there is a lot of fun to be had here.Interior: A bit dirty, but its a bar with TONS of character. Literally decades of visitors and customized decorum has made this place easily recognizable. Every time I come, I play 80s and 70s metal and rock on the jukebox and the staff cheers for it each time.Service: A bit slow, but that's because they are always swamped. Expect a wait if you intend to go.Food: Get ready to eat! Pizza thins, chili, sandwiches and burgers that will fill you up without emptying your wallet. Biggest and tastiest burgers, chicken sandwiches and wings I've ever had. No dessert though, so expect to go for ice cream later. Conclusion: Definitely a hometown favorite that I wouldn't trade for the world. I do miss the deep friend brownie balls though.4.5 out of 5 stars

Pulled into town around 11 on a Thurs. Not too busy. Three on the staff in the bar and all were extremely friendly and chatted with us throughout the night. My buddy ordered the Great 3 burger and I attempted to take down the Thurmanator. Both were cooked exactly how we ordered and food was great.

This little dive is pretty cool! Very rich history. Phenomenal staff and food. Be prepared for a wait, it's always busy! However it's worth the wait!

I got chicken tenders drenched in Carolina Gold sauce and onion rings. The tenders were huge and perfectly crispy and the sauce was amazing. The onion rings were light, crisp and the best tasting rings I have ever had. Excellent service and food. A C-bus icon!

Love the food, and portion sizes are great if you have an appetite. Downside, I've gained weight over the last few years & the booths are uncomfortable for me. Also it's a small place, expect a wait to get seated.

I love the atmosphere here! The place is just cozy and they got arcade games in the front you can play while waiting! I didn't like that they had certain selections for the juke box but rock music isn't that bad. The service is only okay but they kinda make it clear that you'll be there for awhile at the beginning. The burgers are great and gigantic! Decent price too! The decoration in the place was astonishing and just so cool. Would definitely recommend going to check this place out at some point.

All I can say is Best Burger Ever!!! The burger was worth the wait! They take their time to cook it to perfection. You won't leave hungry that's for sure! Fair prices for amazing food. The waiter was awesome and super friendly! I will definitely eat here again! I highly reccomend you try the burgers here you wont be disappointed!

Thurman Cafe is the casual dining experience you'll be compelled to return to at least twice a year. Rather you try something new on the menu or have your old favorite. The experience will consistently be amazing. You'll be greeted graciously at the door with a smile, have delectable food beyond the burger. You'll have options from RINGS & THINGS, salads, pizza and jumbo whole chicken chicken wings, with the added bonus of timely service. Sometimes there's a wait but you won't be disappointed. They have added the takeout only restaurant next door which is nice.

So this has been on my to try list for awhile. And the consortium of Gus, Gwen, Anna, Suzanne, Chris, and Giovanna hit the hammer on the nail head--this place creates some wonderful dishes. It's been here a couple years now, but for the uninitiated it is in the space Easy Street once occupied, a door down from Thurman's To Go.

Burgers bigger than your head! Delicious too. Not much seating inside, so prepare to wait if you want to sit down. Or go next door to the Pickup Window if you're in more of a hurry. Great place!

Well worth the wait!! I'm pretty sure this Burger joint was featured on some food network show and for good reason. The food was phenomenal! The burger was massive but soooo good! The atmosphere is very lively probably because it's in a college town. It was a great experience!

The place offers a fantastic variety of fresh food. I like dining here. Employees are always very nice, pricing is fair and the place is always well organised.

Very good burgers. Reminds me of a small burger joint back home that’s also in the top 100 in America. Will be returning also would suggest that folks go and try it out especially if you’re in town for business or vacation. Call and check to see if it’s busy if it is just order to go.

This was out second time here... Love it! Seating is limited, so expect around a 40 minute wait minimum if the place is full already. The wait is worth the fun atmosphere and gigantic food. If you leave here hungry, it's your fault! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We drove over an hour just to eat here. We will be back again.

Despite not being able to substitute the chips for fries, because kettle chips rip my mouth to shreds, and having to pay extra for said fries, I did like the place and the food. The burger I had was the a-1. It was huge and definitely hand made, like grabbing a hunk of meat and just slapping it on the grill kinda hand made. The fries were really good, not crispy but not mushy. You're typical campus type dive bar with really good food.

Fries were hot and tasty! The wait was about to 30 minutes or more on a Wednesday night. But it was worth the wait! Hamburger was delicious I couldn't eat it all ! I think I had the JOHNNY "which was served with a side of TEQUILA & LIME...it also had blue cheese with a horseradish cheese. Small cozy hole in the wall... LOCALS recommended the THURMANATOR !!!

I love the vibe in this bar. The staff is always friendly and good, the service is good. When it comes to burgers, they are the bestttttttttt. It’s fresh and full of Flavor. Their chicken wings are big, and Tasty. I would %1000000 recommend this place.

The Best Experience Ever this the 1st time my family and I ate a burger here but anyways I don't want no more steak n shake burgers or McDonald's burgers anymore this place will be the only place we will be eating Thank You Guys for Being consistent and being here in Columbus Ohio

Amazing food! Laid back feel. Expect the food to come out HUGE. And dont be surprised by how long it takes to cook it's worth it. Oh! And bring a $1 bill, trust me.

Got the bacon cheeseburger. It was HUGE! I could only eat half and brought the other half home for a 2nd meal. My friend got french fries. I tried one and kicked myself for not getting any. They're great! Excellent service. Only downside was no parking lot, had to park on the street.
